What's free on the Epic Games Store right now?

When it comes to the Epic Games Store, it's Christmas every week. To entice customers to move over from Steam and welcome the newer store on the block, Epic is giving away free games every week of 2020. It worked in 2019, so why not?

That's right, completely free! No strings attached, except the one tied to Epic's storefront. Even if you already own the current free games or don't plan on playing them anytime soon, you might as well login and add them to your library. May 28 - June 4, 2020: Borderlands: The Handsome Collection

Epic is continuing the big game giveaways, following up last week's Civilization 6 with Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. 

The Handsome Collection, speaking in sandwich terms, is the peanut butter and jelly of the Borderlands series—the books without the bookends. Which is to say that it includes Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, games two and three of the now four-game series). It's also got a whole bundle of DLCs for both games. 

Borderlands 2 is probably the high point of the series, nabbing a 90% in our 2012 Borderlands 2 review. The Pre-Sequel isn't quite as big or interesting, but it's a Borderlands game and if you're into the whole schtick it's worth a go.

Epic Games Store free games: what's coming next?

Epic will be giving away games every week for all of 2020, but it's only announcing a few games ahead of time. Check back here weekly for the next games announced on offer.

June 4 - June 11, 2020: Next week's game is also a mystery, just like GTA 5, Civ 6, and the Borderlands games have been. Based on that recent leak, which correctly predicted the Borderlands bundle, next week's freebie will likely be Ark: Survival Evolved.
