McDonald's is Reopening All of Its UK Drive-Thrus by Next Week

Prepare for the end times, as droves of people descend upon the golden arches for some takeaway fries and a burger, taking over roads and leaving carnage in their wake.

Hopefully it won't actually be that dire, and some measure of common sense will win out without a repeat of what we saw at Five Guys, Burger King, and McDonald's now you mention it. But I doubt it. The Big M announced on Twitter that it would be reopening 924 Drive-Thru restaurants between June 2 and 4, with 75 restaurants added to McDelivery via Uber Eats or Just Eat.

The chain will be rolling out social distancing measures for staff, maintaining smaller teams on shift to ensure the two-metre rule can be followed without issues, as well as the bolstered hygiene procedures that have become the norm. To keep things running smoothly, McDonald's says it'll be keeping to reduced hours of 11am - 10pm, with a limited menu available.  Customers have been asked to cap spending at £25 - as they have been since the Drive-Thrus started to open -  and use contactless payment "where possible". So I'm betting that's going to be ignored completely, but we'll have to wait and see.

As of June 2, McDonald's will confirm the locations of the restaurants that are reopening in the morning, so keep an eye on its social media channels or stake out your local branch to save time.
