Second Wolverhampton waste tip set to be reopened
A second Wolverhampton rubbish tip is set to be reopened to the public.
by James VukmirovicWolverhampton Council has announced it will be reopening the Shaw Road Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) in Bushbury after nearly two months closed.
The site will be open seven days a week from 10am from Monday, June 1, with those using the site instructed to follow strict social distancing guidelines. It comes almost two weeks after the Anchor Lane recycling site in Bilston reopened on May 15 with four-hour queues.
The council has asked that residents only make essential trips to the site. If any resident or member of their household is showing any symptoms of coronavirus, they must not visit the site.
The council has also reminded those planning to visit to have no more than two people in a vehicle, to bring ID and a household bill to gain access and not to bring any children under 16 along.
Councillor Steve Evans, cabinet member for city environment at Wolverhampton Council, said he expected the site to be busy, and looked to reassure local residents about plans to control the site.
He said: “Residents can be assured that carefully planned traffic management and marshalling of vehicles, which has worked well at Anchor Lane, will be implemented at this site.
"We ask everyone to carefully follow the instructions as staff guide people through the site as safely and as quickly as possible.
