Normal People hit screens last month, and propelled the show's leads Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones into overnight stardom.

After forming a strong bond during filming, Maynooth native Paul, 24 is now living in a London flat alongside his co-star India Mullen, 23.

Paul, who has quickly gained heartthrob status thanks to his portrayal of Connell on the series, recently revealed he's single, however, his closeness with Dubliner India has reportedly caused chatter among the cast and crew.

A set source said the stars are "incredibly supportive of each other".

They insider told The Sun: "Paul and India have a brilliant, flirty relationship, and are always laughing. They’ve grown incredibly close, and made the decision to live with each other.

"They’re incredibly supportive of one another’s careers."

Paul moved into the flat prior to the UK-wide lockdown, while India has stayed with her family in Sandycove  in south Dublin, however, is in regular contact with her Normal People co-star.

Back in March, Paul posted a picture of himself and a friend with the caption "New housemates hu dis", and tagged two other Instagram accounts, one of which was India's.

And, more recently, Paul uploaded another picture on his Instagram of an at-home shoot for Mr Porter and included India in the post.

He wrote in the caption: "The best part of this shoot was that one of my best mates the crazily talented @indiamullen (who is also INSANELY brilliant as Peggy in 'Normal People') shot it."

India, who plays Marianne Sheridan's best friend in the series, opened up about life in lockdown, admitting the cast are in regular contact with each other via the power of technology.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, the amateur photograph admitted she's found it difficult to get her head around the success of the show, which has been applauded by both critics and viewers.

"We are receiving all of the reaction through messages and social media so it’s been quite surreal but really nice," she said.

"We’ve done Zoom celebrations like the rest of the world but we haven’t been able to see each other so even the celebrations have been through digital interaction.

"There was a wrap party in Dublin for everyone and then there was a kind of a mini one in Rome. We all went out for a dance in Rome which was amazing."

Normal People, written by Sally Rooney, follows the complex friendship and relationship between two teenagers, Connell and Marianne from their days in secondary school in Sligo to their time at Trinity College Dublin.

Last night's episode of series to air on RTÉ saw the show tackle the topic of mental health, and the reaction online has been overwhelmingly positive.

Without spoiling too much, Episode 10 of Normal People sees Connell's mental state starts to deteriorate quickly and, with a little help from his roommate, goes to seek help in the form of a therapist.

Viewers were full of praise for Mescal phenomenal performance and while the scene is incredibly powerful and tough to watch at times the general consensus is that it handled the issue fantastically.
