Build-to-order Macs are now available in India
by Evan SelleckIt has been a long time coming, but build-to-order (BTO) Mac options are now available in India from Authorized Resellers.
While there have been some preconfigured options have been available up to this point, for the most part customers in India looking to buy a Mac have only been able to buy the base model from Apple Authorized Resellers. However, TechCrunch today reports that build-to-order Macs are now available in the region, giving customers quite a few more options to choose from when buying their next computer.
The Cupertino-giant has started to offer a full-range of the Mac portfolio with configure-to-order (CTO) or build-to-order (BTO) option in India, allowing customers in the country to request specific custom needs such as additional memory, storage, or a more powerful graphics card when they purchase a computer.
Customers in India, a key overseas market for American technology giants, have long requested this feature, which Apple offers in several regions. Prior to this, Apple only offered select variants of its Mac computers in India and gave no option to customers to ask for specific upgrades.
For customers in India who do build their own Mac with various customization options, these orders will be delivered within four to five weeks from when the order is placed.
The most important part of all this is the fact that buying from an Authorized Reseller means that customers will get the standard warranty and support options that buying a base model offers. Up to this point there have been third-party options for picking up a build-to-order configured Mac, but that was through non-authorized resellers, which means the support and warranty options weren’t available.
This is good news for folks in India who want to customize their next Mac. Better late than never, right?
