Medak Borewell Sucks 3-Year-Old Boy
MEDAK:A three-year-old boy accidentally fell into a newly drilled 120-feet borewell at Podchanapally village of Papannapet mandal in Medak district on Wednesday. Police and rescue teams along with medical and fire personnel rushed to the spot even as the rescue operation is under way. Incidentally, the uncovered borewell was drilled only this morning (Wednesday) and the incident occurred around 5 in the evening.
The three-year-old boy, identified as Sanjay Saivardhan, was playing in his grandfather’s agricultural field. Not knowing the lurking danger, he accidentally slipped into the borewell. Police said that the borewell was left uncovered as the works were incomplete.
The condition of the boy inside the borewell was not immediately known. It was also unclear if the boy had slipped down to the bottom of the 120-feet borewell or stuck in between. As reports last came in, the authorities have set up flood lights around the place and started digging up on the sides of the borewell with the help of earthmovers. The excruciating process is likely to take quite some time, as it was proven in past instances. As the authorities brace for a long night, concerns are growing on the safety of the boy from his family and the villagers.
Medical teams and ambulances equipped with oxygen supply systems were pressed into service to save the life of the boy. As part of the rescue measures, oxygen is being constantly pumped into the borewell . Meanwhile, police have also informed the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) seeking their assistance in rescue operations. A team from Hyderabad was rushing to the spot, the police said.
