by Rhea TurnerThe boss of McDonald’s outlets in Burton, Swadlincote and Uttoxeter says staff are working to re-open them to drive-thru customers only from next week.
Sarah McLean is the franchisee of restaurants in Burton, Swadlincote, Uttoxeter and Stafford.
She has given an update to customers, who will soon be able to get their hands on their favourite fast food offerings, including Big Macs.
The Stretton and Branston McDonald's are the ones that will be opening in Burton because they are set up for drive-thru customers. The Station Street restaurant in the the town centre, which is not drive-thru, will remain closed for now.
A week after re-opening for drive-thru the outlets will resume offering its delivery of fast food orders to customers via Uber. All of the restaurant areas at the outlets will remain closed.
She said: "I'm re-opening the majority of my restaurants on June 3.
"These include the drive-thrus in Burton, Stafford, Uttoxeter and Swadlincote.
"Burton and Stafford will resume delivery one week after re-opening.
"Station Street in Burton and George Street in Stafford will remain closed for the time being."
There will be a number of changes in place to ensure social distancing measures are taken, she said.
Trading hours will now be shortened from 11am until 10pm, there will be a limited menu and a recommended maximum order spend of £25.
She said: "These measures are temporary to assist social distancing for employee and customer safety and to help with speed of service as I expect there will be very high demand initially."
The restaurants that will be reopening to operate as drive-thrus include the branch in Branston on Wellington Road and Stretton on Derby Road.
The Swadlincote McDonald's in Belmont Street and the Uttoxeter branch on the A50 will also reopen as drive thru only.
