More drivers get tickets for dangerous parking at beauty spot
It is the second time that police have reported people flouting the rules
by Jenny MoodyMore drivers making the most of the nice weather have been ticketed for parking dangerously at a Derbyshire beauty spot.
Cars were spotted parked along a road with white solid lines around Foremark Reservoir, which is near to Repton.
Those visitors who left their car park near the road with white lines got a surprise when they returned as police were handing out tickets.
The Melbourne and Mercia Police Safer Neighbourhood Team took to Facebook to encourage drivers to park legally.
The post reads: "The double white solid lines are there for a reason.
"Parking on the road adjacent to them is an offence and vehicles are being ticketed.
"Any vehicle parked in a dangerous manner will be seized.
"We are regularly patrolling. Please park legally and consideratly."
Foremark Reservoir re-opened to the public on Friday, May 22, after being closed due to the coronavirus lockdown and this is the second time that police have reported people parking dangerously.
It is owned by Severn Trent, with bosses saying that a limited number of facilities at the popular venue were now open, although the playground remained closed.
It has reduced toilet facilities too and people who visit are being asked to observe social distancing guidelines.
A spokesman for Severn Trent added that if it gets too busy at any point, then people would be turned away.
