EE has announced the availability of new Smart and Essential pay monthly handset and Smart SIM plans which come with 5G as standard. The new Smart Plans also come with new Reserve Data, which allows customers to stay connected if they run out of data, as well as the option of picking BritBox as a Swappable Benefit.

With Smart Plans, EE customers can gain access to 5G, pick Swappable Benefits, upgrade to a new device whenever they want, with high-speed data allowances ranging from 4GB per month to unlimited. When the data runs out on these plans, EE switches customers over to Reserve Data which it says is “fast enough” to use WhatsApp, Google Maps, and Apple Music, allowing users to stay connected until the next month’s data starts.

If you’re looking to spend a bit less money, you can opt for EE’s Essential Plans. These are 5G ready and start with data allowances from 500MB. Unlike the Smart Plans, Swappable Benefits are not available but customers still receive up to six months access to BT Sport, Apple Music, Apple News+, MTV Play, and BritBox.

Commenting on the new products, Sharon Meadows, Director of Propositions, Consumer at EE, said:

“We want to provide as many people as possible with access to the faster speeds, greater capacity and improved latency that 5G brings – so we’ve made all our new pay monthly handset plans, as well as our new Smart Sim plans, come with 5G as standard. When combined with inclusive Reserve Data, flexible Swappable Benefits, unlimited data, Service Packs and the option to upgrade anytime, EE’s Smart Plans really do enable customers to get the very most from their smartphone on the UK’s no. 1 mobile network.”
