Boots reveals how stores will change from June to prevent second wave of coronavirus
Dedicated social distancing wardens will patrol stores at all time
by Emma Munbodh, Lorna Hughes, Emma MunbodhBoots has revealed how its stores will change from June - with strict new rules in place for shoppers.
The high street pharmacy chain has been open throughout the coronavirus crisis after being named as an "essential" retailer.
With non-essential retailers allowed to reopen from June 15, it is now preparing to reopen beauty counters and branded beauty aisles.
It is introducing further safety measures to help prevent a second outbreak of the global pandemic.
Customers will be asked to queue outside stores - with a maximum number of people allowed in at a time - and there will be one-way routes in selected shops.
According to the Mirror, additional perspex screens will cover all counters, tills and self-checkouts, and there will no longer be testers at beauty counters.
Shoppers will be asked to request help via a No7 virtual beauty counter. The online video consultations will offer 20-minute personalised, one-to-one sessions with beauty advisors for cosmetic and skincare support.
Tracey Clements from Boots UK, said: "We’ve learnt a great deal over the last eight weeks and the additional measures we are putting in place will allow us to adapt to a radically different retail world.
"Many of the developments are based on feedback from our colleagues who are looking forward to welcoming back more customers. Hygiene, social distancing and protection for customers and colleagues continues to be our focus."
Boots Opticians and Hearingcare services have also been amended to ensure people have access to the essential care they need.
Clinicians will be providing care by phone and, where necessary, face to face appointments will be offered with the appropriate social distancing place.
More signage will also be in place to help maintain a two-metre distance.
