17-year-old girl dies after being struck by boyfriend’s jet ski

A 17-year-old Michigan girl was killed when her boyfriend accidentally struck her with his  jet ski on a lake over Memorial Day weekend, according to reports.

Lexi Simon was driving her own jet ski Sunday afternoon on Lake Fenton when she either stopped or slowed down, prompting her boyfriend to slam into her on his watercraft from behind, MLive reported.

Her boyfriend jumped in the water to try to save her. She was rushed to Ascension Genesys Hospital, where she died, the outlet reported.

Witnesses told cops Simon may have made the fatal decision to slow or stop the jet ski because someone fell off a tube nearby, the outlet reported.

Simon, who was a rising senior at Lake Fenton High School, was remembered by her classmates as “such a happy person,” news station WEYI reported.

“I think most of all it’s just that positivity that she carried,” classmate Christian Parker told the outlet. “She was genuinely such a happy person. Like, walking through the hallways I would just see her smiling and laughing with her friends 24/7 and I think that’s something we can all adopt.”
