Cyclist killed in Brewood tractor crash named as local psychologist

A cyclist who died after being involved in a crash with a tractor in Staffordshire has been named.

Dr Rick Norris, aged 61, died after a crash with a tractor carrying a trailer while cycling on the Chillington Estate in Brewood on Monday.

The crash happened on Gunstone Lane at around 2.40pm.

An air ambulance from Cosford was sent to the crash along with two ambulances and a paramedic but Dr Norris was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dr Norris, who lived in Brewood, was a psychologist with three children who had written several self-help books.

Staffordshire Police is investigating the crash and are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen Dr Norris or the tractor in the build up to the crash to come forward.

Officers from the serious collision investigation unit are also keen to hear from anyone who may have any dash-cam footage or any other information that may help with the investigation.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 2.39pm to reports of a road traffic collision on Gunstone Lane in Brewood.

"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.

"On arrival crews discovered one patient, a man, who was a cyclist who had been involved in a collision with a tractor.

"Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
