GOG.COM Summer Sale now on – grab demos of Desperados III, Destroy All Humans! remake and more
by Stefan LThe GOG.COM Summer Sale is on with the usual array of sales across the storefront. The sale is now live and running from now until 15th June, but in a nice surprise, they’re also playing host to free demos of a handful of upcoming games.
Those demos include the tactical action of Desperados III (out in June), the madcap alien open world romp of Destroy All Humans! remake (out in July), the re-imagined System Shock and more.
To check these demos out, just follow their respective links:
GOG are best known for their policy of only selling DRM-free games – OK, actually they’re probably best known for being the digital storefront of CD Projekt, the makers of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. So it’s great to see two more big budget games getting DRM free releases. Metro Exodus and Prey are those two games, dropping straight into the sale with 50% and 70% off respectively.
There’s over 3000 games in the sale with up to 95% off in some cases. To browse, just head over to GOG.COM.
They also have build your own bundles in collaboration with publishers, where you get an additional 5% off when buying three games and an extra 10% off for buying five games. If you already own some of the game in the bundles, they will count toward your extra discount.
Participating publishers include 11 bit, Activision, Daedalic, Devolver Digital, EA, Kalypso, Paradox Interactive and tinyBuild. When it comes to EA and Activision, don’t expect to see any particularly recent games, with GOG’s DRM-free policy only being adopted with older titles by those publishers. Others are much more free with their properties.
GOG recently released an open beta version of their GOG Galaxy app – an entirely optional installation, as you can still just download game installers from the site – offering a new method to unite your various game collections across different storefronts. Through account linking and APIs, it’s able to tap into your Steam library, Epic Games Store library, and others, as well as your friends lists on those stores, launching any game installed on your computer from this app.
