Region of Waterloo Public Health reported six new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.

It puts the local total at 1,095.

775 cases have now been resolved (71 per cent).

It means there are still 207 active cases in the region, which is two fewer than Tuesday.

As well, no additional deaths were reported on Wednesday morning, leaving the death toll unchanged at 113.

A new outbreak has been declared at Chartwell Queen's Square retirement home, meaning there are 12 outbreaks in total at long-term care and retirement homes.

The region was also at the high end of testing, as another 495 have been completed.

Waterloo Region's acting medical officer of health told a news conference Wednesday, approximately 6.6 per cent of people who have been tested here are testing positive for the coronavirus.

"So overall, the signs are tentatively positive, but we are still in a very delicate state." said Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang.

"This stabilization is the result of residents following public health measures, and where we go from here will actually depend on the actions all of us take, as a community." she added.
