Record breaking heatwave continues to scorch Delhi

A sweltering heatwave continued to sweep Delhi at most places.

Sizzling heatwave conditions in the capital broke an eighteen-year record in Delhi on Wednesday. The maximum temperature at Safdarjung on Tuesday was recorded at 46.0 degrees celcius and the same was last recorded on May 19, 2002. 47.6 degrees celcius was recorded at Palam which was last recorded on May 18, 2002.

The maximum temperature on Wednesday remained marginally less:

Safdarjung - 45.9 +6
Palam - 47.2 +6
Lodhi Road - 45.1 +5
Ayanagar - 46.7 +6

A sweltering heatwave continued to sweep Delhi at most places. Severe heatwave was recorded at Palam. However, it was slightly less than what was recorded on Tuesday, showed data by the Indian Met Department.

However, the IMD predicted a respite from May 28-29. Capital is likely to get respite from May 28 night, when the next Western Disturbance will affect northwest India from May 28 and also easterly winds will prevail in lower levels.

Dust and thunderstorm accompanied with strong gusty winds at 50 -60 kmph is likely to occur on May 29 and 30 over Delhi-NCR, said the data by the IMD.
