Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega 20-Year-Leap: Nishant Malkani Says, 'I Would Have Not Played A Father To A Teenager At This Age'- EXCLUSIVE

Here's what Nishant Malkani, the lead actor of Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega has to say on show's leap and his exit

 Zee TV's Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega is all set to go through a major leap and the show will be revamped with an all new cast except Kanika Mann (who plays the female protagonist) and Daljeet Soundh (who plays dadi), will be retained. This will also mark an exit of show's hero, Nishant Malkani, who essays character of Akshat Jindal. 

We got talking to Nishant about the development and here's what he had to tell us: 

When was the decision of leap taken?

Since a long time the makers were planing to change the story of the show. And now I think they have finally decided to go for a leap after which I will not be part of the show.

Why were you not retained?

Because post leap they will be showing a story of young girl who is supposedly Guddan and my daughter. Since Kanika will be playing the daughter's role as well, it makes sense for her but doesn't leave much scope for me. I won't be able to play a 50-year-old father and they also don't want me to play that at this age. So it's a mutual decision. 

Producer Ved Raj said the decision of revamp has nothing to do with lockdown?

Yes, he is right the discussions were on before the lockdown. It is for the good of the show, so, I completely support their decision.

Were you shocked to know about your exit, esepcially now when things are so uncertain?

I was always prepared for it. We had a very good run of one and half year and if the story is not picking up and if a fresh story needs fresh actors, then I am all for it. Its time for a new page.

But your fans will miss you for sure...

Audience will get to see me post lockdown as I will shoot a few episodes where they will show some celebration on the birth of my daughter. And that's how journey of a new story will start as she will be shown all grown up.
