Corrie star warns Geoff will take desperate measures to get rid of Alya

by

Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) has long been a thorn in evil Geoff Metcalfe’s (Ian Bartholomew) side in Coronation Street, as she saw through his manipulative ways several months ago, and promised to expose him for the abuser he is. However, it seems as if Geoff will do whatever it takes to ensure that this doesn’t happen.

In spite of being a controlling abuser, there’s little as important to Geoff as his reputation. Actor Ian — who plays Geoff — said: ‘It’s what drives him. He has to be Mr Nice Guy; Jolly Geoff, the Life and Soul.’

However, Alya’s constant meddling is a threat to that very reputation.

From going to the police and requesting information under Clare’s Law, to browsing the web in search of evidence to use against him, the young woman knows full well that he isn’t the Mr. Nice Guy he claims to be.

With her now having gone public with these accusations of abuse against Yasmeen (Shelley King), Geoff’s reputation is under threat.

However, knowing Geoff, he’ll stop at nothing to put a stop to Alya. Speaking about this, Ian said: ‘Alya is becoming a constant irritation and he’s looking to find a way of keeping her quiet and stopping her from influencing other people.

‘So he has to be on his mettle with her at all times to refute the accusations she levels at him.’

Coronation Street continues Wednesday 27 May at 7:30pm on ITV.
