Fort Myers Police locate suspect who broke into a Publix in Lehigh Acres

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Fort Myers Police Officers responded to Publix, located on Lee Boulevard, about an alarm call.

Once on the scene, Officers determined that a male in the nearby vicinity was the suspect after being notified by citizens in the area.

An investigation revealed that the suspect pried his way into Publix via the double doors; once inside, he could not manage to continue through the second set of doors, at which time he tried to exit without success.

The suspect then activated a fire alarm before exiting and fleeing on foot; the fire alarm alerted the Fort Myers Police response.

During the investigation, another call was received at the McDonalds located at 11041 Colonial Boulevard about an abandoned vehicle.

Once on the scene, it was determined that the two incidents were related.

Brandon Gama, 20, was detained at the scene and was later charged with several Felonies to include, Burglary to an Occupied Dwelling, Vehicle Theft, Petit Theft, False Fire Alarm, Burglary Unoccupied Structure.

Gama was transported to the Lee County Jail, where he is housed.
