The Maha Vikas Aghadi on Wednesday put up a united front to show that there were no differences in the ruling coalition in Maharashtra and went all out against the BJP in the state and at the Centre.

Shiv Sena Minister Anil Parab, Congress Minister Balasaheb Thorat flanked by NCP minister Jayant Patil slammed the BJP, with Thorat going on to say that while the state government was trying to battle the Covid-19 pandemic and helping people , the BJP was trying to ‘defame’ and ‘destabilize’ the government.

“All of us in the government are working together under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray. We are looking at having more hospitals, and helping the migrants. We had hoped that the opposition would help us out. However the BJP is spending time defaming and trying to destabilize the government,”said Thorat who is the Maharashtra Congress chief and the state’s revenue minister.

Transport Minister Anil Parab from the Shiv Sena hit out at Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis’s recent press conference where in the latter had given figures to show how the Centre had helped Maharashra.

“Fadnavis has claimed that we have been given Rs 1750 crores worth of wheat, we have not got this at all. He has claimed that the centre has given us Rs 122 crores for shifting migrants from Maharahtra to other states, again this was announced by the centre three days back and by this time we have already shifted most of the migrants back to their home states at our own cost,” said Parab.

Parab and Irrigation Minister Jayant Patil slammed the Railways and said that their was an attempt to defame the state government. “ We had asked for trains to transport migrants til May 31. However the Railways are sending all those trains in one single day. How can you cope with this,.” said Patil.

Both of them alleged that Railways was no longer working in collaboration with the Centre, contrary to what the position was till a few days ago.

“ Announcements are made just one hour before the train leaves the station, people are earlier asked to come at one station however later on they are all asked to come at a different station suddenly, this causes confusion, Parab said.

Patil said, "We believe it is perhaps deliberate attempt to show us in poor light and to defame our government.”

Referring to the Covid 19 pandemic and the criticism that it was not handled well, Jayant Patil claimed that the situation in Mumbai and Maharashtra was being handled far better than in other states.

“ You can check others states like Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat we are doing more testing then any other state, we have screened lakhs of people. We are in a better situation then in Gujarat.”said Patil.
