Clarification to a Sunday Mail article dated 10/05/20: Scots banking tycoon accused of cashing in on coronavirus

We now accept that the source of the price increases was abroad and that Wright Cottrell had no control whatsoever of these market changes.

In our front page article of 10th May, we reported that Wright Cottrell, whose non Executive Chairman is Sir Angus Grossart, was ‘cashing in on corona’ and had been accused of profiteering from the pandemic.

This was based on the price of face masks soaring in light of the crisis.

We now accept that the source of the price increases was abroad and that Wright Cottrell had no control whatsoever of these market changes.

We also accept that they are not ‘profiteering’ but in fact have not increased their profit margins and are in fact the lowest priced in their market.
