HBO Max launch: A closer look at the catalogue from day one

WarnerMedia’s platform is launching with six originals available from day one; more will be added on a monthly basis

HBO Max is officially launching today.

WarnerMedia’s platform was announced in October last year, and – after making a few accommodations due to the coronavirus pandemic – it has now gone live with a mix of originals and fan favourites.

Because its parent company is WarnerMedia, HBO Max can dig into Warner Bros’s back catalogue, as well as pull from other libraries such as DC and CNN.

HBO Max is going live with six originals immediately available to stream. Then, the platform plans on releasing new originals every month throughout the year. A release schedule has been published through 6 August so far.

Love Life, a scripted comedy starring Anna Kendrick

Legendary, a ballroom dance competition series

On the Record, a documentary about allegations of sexual misconduct made against Russell Simmons

Craftopia, a children’s crafting competition show

Looney Tunes Cartoons, a new animated series

The Not Too Late Show with Elmo, a family-friendly talk show

Original second season of Doom Patrol, the DC Comics series focusing on the titular team of superheroes
