“I wouldn’t say no” – West Ham man not opposed to move, wants to grab “opportunities”

West Ham United midfielder Carlos Sánchez has revealed he “wouldn’t say no” to returning to Colombia, but it is not currently part of his plans.

The 34-year-old midfielder has been at the London Stadium since 2018 after completing a free transfer from Fiorentina under Manuel Pellegrini.

His time at the club has not been a success, though, with him failing to establish himself under the Hammers’ former boss or David Moyes.

He is widely expected to leave West Ham this summer when his contract comes to an end, with no sign of a new deal being offered at present.

So far there has been little speculation about where he may end up next, with the midfielder set to be on the lookout for his tenth club of a career that has seen him play in Italy, France, Spain and England.

A return to Colombia to close out his career would make sense, and he says he wouldn’t rule it out should he leave West Ham, although it’s not currently on his agenda.

“Life is about opportunities, you have to be prepared for when they arrive,” he told Caracol Radio.

“You have to always prepare, that’s the fundamental thing.

“I always dreamed of playing in Colombia and going abroad, but the opportunity occurred in Uruguay, and I grabbed it.

“I wouldn’t say no (to returning), but at the moment we are not thinking of going back to Colombia. However, you never know.”
