The family builds their life and tries to re-establish their lost fortune there.

How did the makers announce the news?

On March 21, 2019, creator and lead actor Dan Levy, through his Twitter, ​announced​ that season 6 of the comedy series will also be its last. In the released statement, Dan and Eugene Levy said, “It’s not lost on us what a rare privilege it is in this industry to get to decide when your show should take its final bow. We could never have dreamed that our fans would grow to love and care about these characters in the ways that you have”.

The makers decided to stop the series when the show was ranked at an all-time high. But, it is a privilege less realized by makers to take the decision and call it an end before the show runs into the ground.

Why would Schitt’s Creek​ ​ not return for Season 7?

As per reports, when Dan Levy first developed ​Schitt’s Creek​ with his father, Eugene, he always envisioned that the series would last five seasons. After the release of season 4 in 2018, the comedy series was awarded a two-season renewal. The decision to end the series with season 6 was a creative one and not something based on viewers’ response.

Interestingly, ​Schitt’s Creek​ closed its run while interest was at an all-time high. For now, ​Schitt’s Creek​ season 7 isn’t deemed necessary, but that might change in the future as the cast and crew are leaving the door open if they feel the need to revisit the series at some point in the future.

I’m not one to lay down the iron fist and say, ‘This is it, forever.’ This is just it for now”. So, this might not be the final goodbye, since there’s a chance that the show can be back with a revival.
