Sony's much-anticipated flagship Xperia 1 II will finally go up for pre-orders in the US in June about three months after it was announced. Contrary to the previous rumour that the smartphone will arrive in markets in April, the Sony Xperia 1 II has taken a little more time to hit the shelves, and that too for an exorbitant price. The latest flagship from Sony costs $1,199, which is roughly Rs 90,000, making it the most expensive Sony phone ever.

The Sony Xperia 1 II pre-orders will begin on June 1 in the US while the shipping is expected to start July 24. The company is bundling the pre-order purchases with the Sony WF-1999XM3 noise-cancelling wireless earphones. The Sony Xperia 1 II comes in two colours - Black and Purple.

Since Sony exited the Indian smartphone market last year, the Xperia 1 II and any future ones are unlikely to arrive in the country, which is already saturated with smartphones in nearly all price segments.

The Sony Xperia 1 II was launched the company's answer to the Galaxy S20 smartphones that flaunt overwhelming cameras with 100x telescopic zoom. Sony is still playing with the unusual 21:9 aspect ratio on its display, which also has a 4K resolution. The Xperia 1 II comes with a 6.5-inch QHD+ OLED HDR-enabled display with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1644x3840 pixels.

Moreover, the Xperia 1 II runs Android 10 and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, with support for a microSD card. The Xperia 1 II has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a USB-C port, and Bluetooth 5.1 among other features.

Sony Xperia 1 II comes with four cameras on the rear - a 12-megapixel f/1.7 sensor, a 12-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto sensor, a 12-megapixel f/2.2 ultrawide sensor, and a 0.3-megapixel Time of Flight 3D sensor. For selfies, there is an 8-megapixel camera available with HDR. The smartphone also has stereo speakers and a dynamic vibration system for sound output. It is backed by a 4000mAh battery under the hood and supports wireless charging as well.
