Coronavirus Scotland: Ten elderly residents and four staff test positive for COVID-19 at Stirlingshire care home
by Catriona GraffiusA STIRLINGSHIRE care home has confirmed ten residents and four staff members have tested positive for COVID-19.
The William Simpson Care Home, Plean, has tested all of its 61 residents as well as its staff members, revealing that ten elderly residents have succumbed to the terrible virus.

The care home has not suffered from any coronavirus deaths to date.
A spokesperson for the William Simpson care home confirmed three members of staff were tested after a member of their household - who does not work at the care home - tested positive for the killer bug.
The staff told the Care Home by phone that they had caught coronavirus, and the care home immediately asked Public Health that all residents and staff be tested.
The spokesperson said: “The three staff also tested positive and informed us by telephone on Friday 15th May.”
“William Simpsons made a request to Public Health on Friday 15th May to test all residents and staff.
“On Wednesday 20th May a testing team came to the home.
“10 residents tested positive and the other 51 residents tested negative, one further member of staff tested positive.
“All staff who have tested positive are isolating.
“I can confirm that we have had no Covid-19 related deaths.”
The spokesperson added that all relevant authorities were notified and the correct measures were put in place to isolate residents and reduce the spread of the virus.
The spokesperson added: “The relatives of the residents who tested positive have all been informed and are kept up to date on their loved one’s health and wellbeing.
“The health and wellbeing of our residents and staff are always our primary concern.
“William Simpsons are committed to do everything we can to respond quickly and effectively and we will continue to follow all guidance issued during this pandemic.”
