'Over 800 children have tested positive for Covid-19 in Sindh'

by

Around 882 children have tested positive for coronavirus in Sindh, revealed Sindh government spokesman Murtaza Wahab on Wednesday.

Wahab confirmed the numbers in a tweet, stating that the sharp increase was owing to people’s carelessness as they had been negligent in following the government-mandated SOPs.

“Can’t we defer shopping and socialising?” the spokesman asked, saying that it was still not too late for people to be careful.

The province’s currently virus tally stands at 24,206 – the highest among all provinces and regions.

As per the statistics provided by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah today, the province recorded 699 fresh cases, out of this, 599 were said to have been reported only in Karachi.

Six more people succumbed to the virus, taking the province’s death tally to 380. He further stated that around 275 patients were in a critical condition, and at least 42 were on ventilators.

The CM informed that a total of 9,270 people have recovered thus far. The province has so far conducted a total of 163,805 tests.

On May 24, the CM had said that the number of total positive results  from the tests conducted on May 23 amounted to 24 per cent, which was the highest percentage of positive cases in a single day recorded till then.
