McDonald's to open all drive-thru restaurants by next Thursday

Fast food chain McDonald's will open its 28 drive-thru restaurants in Northern Ireland by Thursday of next week.

All of the chain's restaurants in Ireland and Britain will reopen between Tuesday, June 2, and Thursday, June 4.

The company said the locations of the restaurants will only be released on the morning they open "to manage the anticipated demand".

The restaurants will offer a limited menu.

Customers have been asked to use contactless payment and limit their total spend to £25.

During the limited opening of some stores in the Republic and Britain, some drive-thru lanes had to be closed due to long queues.

A company spokesman said the company will work with councils and the PSNI as it reopens its outlets.

He said customers will notice some strict safety measures.

"With fewer employees working in our kitchens and service areas, our teams will still need your patience and support as they continue to adjust to the new ways of working," he said.

"Face coverings, gloves, Perspex screens and new safety and hygiene processes mean it will look different, it will take a little longer and as we’ve seen in the pilot restaurants, we expect demand will be high."
