Mum shares genius ice lolly hack which stops kids dropping them
by Lizzie ThomsonSummer is just around the corner, which means ice lollies will be on the agenda.
But give a small child an ice lolly and you’ll almost certainly end up with a sticky patch on the floor.
Thankfully, a mum has shared a genius hack which stops children dropping their frozen treats.
Her clever trick involves one thing and one thing only – a sandwich bag clip.
Sharing her hack on the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, the savvy mum posted: ‘For all those with children who are at an age where holding an ice lolly stick is difficult.
‘Use a sandwich bag clip on the stick…. allows them to grip with both hands’
She explains the extra surface area gives kids something else to hold onto and ‘prevents tears from dropped lollies.’
Naturally, parents were quick to comment on the simple-yet-effective tip, with many praising her imaginative thinking.
One impressed follower commented: ‘What a clever idea.’
Someone else said: ‘That’s a fab idea, I’ll be doing this from now on with my daughter.’
While another added: ‘Genius!! I hate the feel of a lolly stick, I have to cover it with the wrapper!’
Others were quick to recommend other items which could be used instead of a sandwich bag clip.
One posted: ‘That’s good! Suppose you could use a peg if you don’t have a clip.’
Another added some more advice saying: ‘Put a cupcake case through the bottom of the stick to catch the drips, too.’
Lots of people are getting creative in lockdown, by finding household solutions to common problems.
Another mum has shared how to make DIY teething rings to soothe sore gums and a nutritionist has explained how to squeeze all the juice out of a lemon with a skewer.
