A woman claiming to be the daughter of popular Benga musician Jimmy Wayuni has emerged hours after the legendary artiste and KRA official passed on.

Mercy Murungi, who describes herself as a film and TV producer, disclosed that Jimmy Wayuni Githinji was her biological father.

In a heartbreaking Twitter post, Murungi wondered how she was supposed to mourn a father who she had just began building a relationship with and was yet to be convinced had earned the title dad.

"How do you mourn a man you had barely known? How do you mourn the man you called biological father but fought so much with him for the title of Dad that he wanted, but you felt he was yet to earn?

"What many never knew is Jimmy Wayuni is my biological father.  And now he is gone," she wrote on Twitter.

Githinji died on Tuesday, May 26, at night in a grisly road accident around Githurai area along the Thika Super-Highway.

He was driving with fellow musician Kibandi Jacksam when their vehicle was reportedly rammed into from the side.

Jacksam sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is currently recuperating.

The Benga maestro is known for several popular hit songs including; Airìtu a Ruiru, Anisa, Karenjù, Mama Sululu and Utuire uhenagia.
