A kayaker filmed his devastating final hours before his body was found washed up on a beach.

Jeremy Worthy was tragically found dead off Long Beach, near Batemans Bay on the New South Wales coast in Australia on Sunday.

Just hours before he died, the 43-year-old posted a tragic video on Facebook, appearing to show his struggle.

Jeremy, who sounds exhausted in the footage, says: "This is tiring, pushing me where I don't want to go."

He told the camera "there’s no going back where I came, that’s too far," the Daily Star reports.

The kayaker also reportedly said he was too "embarrassed" to call the marine rescue.

“It's not very peaceful, not very calming,” he added.

The video shows strong winds and large waves crashing against his kayak.

Jeremy also shared photos before the video was posted saying he “got swamped” by the shore waves.

The kayaker, who said he was heading out to fish, then posted a map of his location with no description.

Just nine minutes after Jeremy’s video was posted to Facebook, emergency services were called to the beach.

But an empty kayak was found by a member of the public before his body was found.

Paramedics provided CPR but the kayaker died at the scene, New South Wales Police said in a statement.

Following the devastating news of his death, friends and family commented on the post.

One said she wished she had realised “the reality of the situation”.

“I’m pretty sure this was his last call for help,” she commented.

“I’m so sorry my friend I should have called Marine Rescue when I saw you struggle long with the waves I thought you could deal with it.”

"I can't stop watching this video," another wrote. "Jeremy, I wish I had of seen this and called marine rescue as not long after you drowned. R.I.P I already miss your good morning text."

And another devastated friend said: "Can't believe you've gone just like that and I only seen you a couple days ago.

"Fly high mate, forever loved and missed by everyone you have truly been a good friend."
