McDonald's drive-thrus in Notts set to reopen next month

The wait is nearly over

There's light at the end of the tunnel - the wait for a Big Mac and fries in Notts is nearly over, with McDonald's set to reopen every drive-thru across the country by June 4.

Fast food giant McDonald's announced today, May 27, that 1,019 restaurants will have reopened for either drive-through or delivery between Tuesday and Thursday next week.

It includes restaurants at Castle Marina, Arnold, Clifton and Bobbers Mill.

The availability of McDelivery will be expanded, too.

The company said it was only possible "following the hard work of the teams in our 44 pilot restaurants".

"Over the last fortnight, our employees, franchisees and suppliers have worked tirelessly to implement new procedures to enable safe working so that we can now help all parts of the UK and Ireland to enjoy the return of the Big Mac," said a statement.

With fewer employees working in the kitchens and service areas, customers have been asked for their patience and support while staff adjust to the new ways of working.

Face coverings, gloves, Perspex screens and new safety and hygiene processes mean it will look different, it will take a little longer and as as seen in the pilot restaurants, demand will be high.

"Please bear with us, we will continue to put our people first – their safety is our priority," said the spokesperson.

In the last week some drive-thru lanes have been closed where demand has impacted on the local community or staff and customer safety.

"We will continue to work with local authorities and the police as we extend our reopening plans. With smaller teams, we will still be offering a limited menu over reduced hours, and we ask that you make contactless payments and limit your spend to £25," said the statement.

"We are continuing to review these measures as we reopen, but for now, these restrictions remain in place to help our employees, customers and delivery partner couriers to remain safe."

To manage the anticipated demand, locations of the reopening restaurants will be announced on the morning of each day.
