Why Ronaldinho Once Gave Opponent His Shirt At Half-Time

Former FC Barcelona wizard Ronaldinho regularly terrorised his opponents on the football pitch, and one of them has now recalled why the Brazilian gave him his shirt during the half-time break of a match.

The 40-year-old, who is currently under house arrest in Paraguay after being released from prison on bail, had his most successful playing spell at Barcelona.

However, he joined AC Milan following his five-year stint at the Camp Nou, and one of his Serie A opponents, in particular, gave him a hard time.

Former Catania defender Pablo Alvarez has now recalled how Ronaldinho once gave him his shirt after the whistle blew for half-time in a match, seemingly in a bid to get the fullback to stop hitting him.

"When the first half of a Milan game against Catania at the (Stadio) San Siro ended, we were going to the dressing room and he approached me in the tunnel," Alvarez told Crack Deportivo, as cited by Marca.

"He takes off his shirt and says to me: 'Take it, Alvarez. Please don't hit me anymore.'

"And he gave me the shirt.

"It was impossible to stop Ronaldinho, he was up in the air, he was impeccable.

"One of the best players in the football history."

Earlier this year, Ronaldinho and his brother Roberto Assis were caught with fake passports in Paraguay and were initially sent to jail.

However, the duo have since been released on bail, but are not allowed to leave the hotel they are under house arrest in until an investigation into their alleged involvement in a money laundering scheme is completed.
