You sold out our party - Kashamu tells ex-PDP chairman in Ogun

Senator Buruji Kashamu has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s former chairman in Ogun, Chief Bayo Dayo, of selling the party out for financial gains.

In a press release on Wednesday, May 27, Kashamu accused Dayo betrayed those he led while in office to Honourable Ladi Adebutu a chieftain of the party.

Kashamu alleged that Dayo achieved this through a "dubious reconciliation arrangement, The Nation reports.

The senator said: "...Dayo decided to betray those he had led for eight years and purportedly sold 65 per cent of the party structure to Hon. Ladi Adebutu through a shady reconciliation arrangement. He kept the remaining 35 per cent for himself.

“It is this selfish and lopsided sharing ratio that they wanted to use to set up an imaginary caretaker committee. This is the same group that signed a three-year agreement with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) on the 7th of March, 2019. The agreement is still valid till 2022 as it has not been renounced till date.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that members of the PDP in Ogun state had taken to the streets to protest the judgment of the Supreme Court on the appeal against the victory of Emeka Ihedioha as governor of Imo state at the polls.

The party members including men and women took to the streets on Sunday, January 19, to described the annulment of Ihedioha's victory as a fraud.

The chairman of the faction backed by the national leadership of PDP, Sikirulai Ogundele, led aggrieved members of the party in a demonstration in Abeokuta.

The protesters demanded a review and reversal of the Supreme Court judgment in the interest of justice.

Chanting several solidarity songs, the party members with their placards showed inscriptions like: “IMO judgment is a fraud,” “Our judicial system is not a department of the APC”, “Stop robbing PDP of its mandate,” “Stop influencing the judiciary”, ” Stop compromising our judiciary, ” and “Ogun PDP says no to injustice,” among many others.

Speaking during the protest, the chairman of the party said the Supreme Court's decision on Imo state's governorship status is a misplacement, miscarriage and misuse of the judicial process.
