Tsvangirai’s Son Ignores Chamisa’s Directive to Boycott Parliament

The late Morgan Tsvangirai’s son, Vincent, reportedly ignored Nelson Chamisa’s directive, by attending the Parliament session yesterday.

Chamisa’s faction had ordered their MPs to boycott the Parliament session, as they are currently embroiled in a bitter leadership wrangle with arch nemesis, Thokozani Khupe’s faction.

Khupe’s faction has since recalled 4 MPs from the Chamisa faction, since the court recognized her as the legitimate leader of the MDC party.

The four are Chalton Hwende, Thabitha Khumalo, Lilian Timveos and Prosper Mutseyami.

Tsvangirai’s son was joined by 4 other MDC MPs,  Constance Chihururu, Joyce Makonya who are proportional representatives and Winnie Kankuni, who is the MP of Sunningdale and David Tekeshe who is the MP of Makoni Central.

Speaking to the Daily News, Makonya said Vincent Tsvangirai was defending what is right.

Vincent Tsvangirai was not available for comment at the time of going to press.

In the same vein, Speaker Of Parliament, Advocate Jacob Mudenda cautioned MDC MPs against boycotting stating that the Standing Rules and Orders will soon be invoked.

Mudenda said the absent MPs must respect the country’s laws and it is not anyone’s responsibility to persuade them to come to Parliament.

He said parliament has the Standing Orders and Rules which can be invoked.

Meanwhile, independent Norton MP, Temba Mliswa also argued that MDC MPs must not boycott Parliament sessions, as their Zanu PF counterparts are too weak to question cabinet ministers on matters.
