EE Overhauls Pay Monthly Plans So They're All 5G Ready Now
by Shabana ArifEE has announced that its new range of Smart, Essential, and Smart Sim pay monthly mobile plans are now 5G ready as standard, and include the new Reserve Data feature, so you can stay connected even when you've used up all of your high speed data.
The new packages are designed with future-proofing in mind, so you can jump on the 5G bandwagon immediately, or wait it out while the network gets bolstered before switching over when it becomes available in your area. This applies to the cheaper Essential plan, the Smart plan that comes with Swappable Benefits, and SIM-only plans. The Reserve Data feature automatically kicks in when you've blown through your high-speed data allowance, and is still fast enough to let you access the likes of WhatsApp, Google Maps, and Apple Music, so you can continue about your daily life being largely unaffected by the inability to manage your data usage. Of course, if you want to carry on enjoying your full speed data, you can buy an add-on as you usually would, or receive data from someone on the same shared plan via data gifting. So that's nice.
Most of the newest, snazziest, 5G-ready smartphones are available on the network, including the Samsung Galaxy S20+, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, the Galaxy Fold, and the Galaxy Note 10+. EE has also added BritBox to its growing list of Swappable Benefits, exclusive to its Smart plan. Essential plan customers can access EE's entertainment options through Entertainment on EE. Sharon Meadows, director of propositions, said:
"We want to provide as many people as possible with access to the faster speeds, greater capacity and improved latency that 5G brings – so we’ve made all our new pay monthly handset plans, as well as our new Smart Sim plans, come with 5G as standard.
"When combined with inclusive Reserve Data, flexible Swappable Benefits, unlimited data, Service Packs and the option to upgrade anytime, EE’s Smart Plans really do enable customers to get the very most from their smartphone on the UK’s no. 1 mobile network”.
