June’s Games with Gold include Destroy All Humans! & Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse

by

Microsoft have unveiled the range of games being offered through Games with Gold in June, featuring Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse and Destroy All Humans!

As usual, there’s two Xbox One games and two backward compatible games from previous generations, their availability being staggered out through the month.

The two Xbox One games are Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, the first game from this platfomer series to appear on current gen systems, and the relaxed character interaction sim of Coffee Talk. Meanwhile, the two backward compatible games are the original Xbox version of Destroy All Humans! – you didn’t think this could be the upcoming remake, did you? – and acclaimed shoot ’em up Sine Mora.

All told, it’s a more understated month for the service, but does make for a nice change of pace from the stream of racing games through the first half of the year. Still, it’s a stark contrast to what PlayStation Plus is offering in June, having announced that Call of Duty: WWII would headline – it’s actually available to download right now – and with rumours that Spider-Man might be coming alongside it.

I’m sure that many will be disappointed that there’s another Shantae game when the more recent Shantae: Half-Genie Hero was featured in April. Destroy All Humans! can also feel a touch redundant with the remake coming out in July, and Sine Mora has had a release on current gen consoles in the form of Sine Mora EX. Hopefully July’s games are a bit more exciting.

Don’t forget that there’s still a few days to pick up some of May’s games:
