CALOOCAN City Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan ordered the deployment of a shuttle bus to be used by returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who were residents of the city for their free ride back home Tuesday evening.

The returning OFWs from Caloocan city who were tested negative for coronavirus (COVID)-19 received a warm welcome from employees of the city government who were assigned to convey them to their respective families as soon as they alighted from the bus at the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) from their respective quarantine facility.

Mayor Oca said they responded to the call of President Rodrigo Duterte to assist the returning OFWs who were recently stranded in other countries due to the temporary travel ban amid the outbreak of COVID-19.

After the government declared a Luzonwide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), public transportation services were suspended prompting the city government to provide free ride to returning OFWs.

"Hindi matutumbasan ang sakripisyong ginagawa ng ating mga OFWs kaya't buong puso ang ating pagtulong sa kanila na makauwi at makasama ang kani-kanilang pamilya," Mayor Oca said.
