PCG man dies, 6 others hurt in road mishap

A PERSONNEL from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) died while six others were wounded when the van they were riding turned turtle the other day at the Star Tollways in Ibaan,Batangas. The victims were said to be on their way to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to help in the government’s “Bayanihan Repatriation” program for overseas Filipino workers.

This was confirmed by the PCG, which said that Coast Guard Apprentice Seaman (ASN) Cenen Epetito was dead on arrival at the Batangas Healthcare Specialists Medical Center.

Now under observation and still at the intensive care unit is Coast Guard ASN Adrian Añonuevo who sustained minor hematoma.

The others who were also wounded were identified as Seaman Second Class (SN2) Pacifico Casipi, SN2 Erdie Rojales, ASN Rouin Alvarez, ASN John Kristopher Mojica and Candidate Coast Guard Man (CCGM) McLester Saguid.

The PCG said the victims were cruising along the way when one of the tires of the multi-purpose van they were in got busted, and turned turtle.
