Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is leaving no stone unturned in helping the frontline warriors and people who are affected due to the coronavirus pandemic. After generously donating Rs. 25 crore towards the PM CARES fund and Rs 3 crore to BMC to assist in the making of PPE kits and masks, Akshay has yet again won the hearts of many as he has come forward to help the members of Cine & TV Artistes Association (CINTAA).

The ‘Housefull’ actor has donated Rs. 45 lakh to CINTAA for the artists who are badly hit by the pandemic. Speaking exclusively to ETimes, Amit Behl, Sr. Joint Secretary, CINTAA, confirmed the news.

Behl informed that the whole initiative was taken up by one of the committee members and actor Ayub Khan who spoke to Jaaved Jaaferi and Sajid Nadiadwala. “We have been grateful. This entire thing was initiated by our executive committee member Ayub Khan. He spoke to Jaaved Jaaferi. Then Jaaved bhai spoke to Sajid Nadiadwala who then spoke to Akshay Kumar. Akshay immediately asked for the list of our members and we sent him the list. We have been receiving thank you messages from all the 1500 members. They have received Rs. 3000 in their accounts that amounts to Rs 45 lakh. Sajid and Akshay have promised more funds if the crisis deepens.”

Meanwhile, Akshay has become the first actor to return on the film sets amid the lockdown. With a 20-member team, Akki and R Balki got the cameras rolling for an ad that is about the responsibilities of every citizen post-lockdown.
