Armed police called to south Bristol - man arrested

Police were in south Bristol yesterday after reports of a man with a machete.

Armed officers were dispatched to Fair Furlong in Withywood yesterday (Tuesday, May 26). A property was searched and a man was arrested on suspicion of affray and possessing a weapon in public.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called shortly after 11.30am to reports of a man carrying a machete in Fair Furlong.

"Officers attended and searched an address and the surrounding area.

"CCTV enquiries were carried out and a man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

"The 37-year-old remains in police custody."
