Warner Beach band is ready to ‘Manuvah’ with new EP

by Earl BaillacheInspired by the Covid-19 pandemic, Warner Beach rock and reggae act, ‘Manuvah to Land’, are back with new music to keep spirits high during lockdown. Contrary to many believing the band had split up, the musos have just announced their second release, a six-track EP entitled ‘Got This Feeling’.
After supporting Jeremy Loops, BOO, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Finley Quay and Donovan Frankerieter when they toured Durban, this is the follow-up EP after their well-received debut album ‘Easy Living’ released in 2010.
“When it comes to music, we have the freedom to express ourselves freely. We build our songs from many genres, including alternative, rap, acoustic and reggae, and use these melodies to try to find the sweet spot. Our goal is to always create something authentic,” said lead guitarist Durran Trevisan.
Formed in 2007, the four-piece band has appeared multiple times at Splashy Fen, White Mountain Festival, all over KZN and their song ‘Thousand Eyes’ was the featured track on the Durban Tourism 2013 campaign.

With lead singer Jason Graham relocating to Australia with his family, the band opted to take a break, leading to rumours they had disbanded. However, the boys decided to push out new unreleased music featuring the full lineup, with Jason on lead vocals and guitar, lead guitarist Durran Trevisan, drummer and percussionist Grant van der Linde and bassist James Harris. Local South Coast surf legend Michael Roscoe was the bassist on their first album.
The title track on the new EP is an introspective song written by Jason about going with your gut and figuring things out on your own. He was inspired to write it while thinking about life and having the attitude of just getting on with things and doing what you gotta do to survive. He wanted to inspire others to have that positive feeling each day, whatever that feeling is.

“The EP showcases our diverse range of music influences and highlights the progression of our craft. The elements from the first album are still celebrated for their true and unique sound and we hope these follow-up tracks on ‘Got This Feeling’ are enjoyed in the same way,” said Durran.
