Mangled Ferrari 488 GTB Destroyed After Crashing Into London Bus

A popular British rapper may have been behind the wheel.

A quiet Sunday in London turned into a spectacle that would bring a tear to any gearhead's eyes. Yes, a Ferrari 488 GTB was ruined after crashing into the side of a red London bus. According to those at the scene, the accident occurred close to Trafalgar Square and may have involved a London-based rapper who goes by the name Swarmz. This has yet to be confirmed, despite YouTube videos claiming that Swarmz himself crashed the car.

Some reports suggest the Ferrari was a 488 Pista, but the model involved appears to be the 488 GTB, as it does without the Pista's characteristic central stripe. Regardless, it's still over $250,000 worth of supercar that will probably never visit a track again, let alone a London street with a 20-mph speed limit.

The British rapper allegedly posted an Instagram story of himself at the scene, but this hasn't confirmed whether he was driving the Ferrari or not. There were reportedly also older videos of the rapper with the vehicle on Saturday, but these are no longer visible on the social media platform. However, the rapper's latest post contains the cryptic text "wasn't me", leading us to believe he wasn't behind the wheel when the crash occurred.

Thankfully, there were no serious injuries despite the extensive damage to the 488. From the footage, the airbags did their job and deployed when the crash occurred. Fortunately, due to the 3.9-liter V8 engine's location in the mid-engine Ferrari, it could theoretically be salvaged and find a new home in another car. After all, the 661-horsepower motor is a masterpiece on its own.

It's just the latest in a series of crashes involving supercars like the 488, although this wasn't even the most shocking one we've seen. That infamous honor goes to the Ferrari California that was split clean in half in South Africa last year.

And what about the London bus? It sustained damage on its right lower side, but unlike the Ferrari, it'll likely be back on the road again soon once it is repaired. Based on the extent of the damage, we're pretty certain that the 488 driver, whether it was Swarmz or not, wasn't adhering to the 20-mph speed limit. Still, it all could have ended so much worse and the good news is, nobody was hurt.
