Picking your own fruit at a fruit farm is a tradition for many families each and every spring and summer.

And a Tamworth fruit farm, situated in Staffordshire, is getting around the coronavirus lockdown with a handy new drive-thru service.

With social distancing measures and the ongoing coronavirus lockdown changing life as we know it, Manor Farm Fruit has stepped up.

The Staffordshire fruit farm today appeared on This Morning to discuss its innovative way of ensuring they can still sell their fresh fruit direct to the public.

"I think it's a great idea. I mean if McDonald's and KFC can re-open, it seems to make sense if we can all be contactless," one punter said.

Another agreed: "I think it's brilliant. I think it should  be done in a lot of places."

A third chipped in with: "They keep apart and, you know, you pick your stuff up. You don't make any contact with anybody."

Elaine Clarke, from Manor Farm, said: "To do something new where people can still come and see us and be socially safe is just fabulous and we're so thankful to our customers for coming to support us."

Elaine continued: “The popularity of the drive-through has already exceeded all our expectations and we plan to build on these foundations by adding even more products. We’ll be taking the lead on this from our customers and their suggestions for what they would like us to sell.”

Manor Farm Fruits is based in the picturesque village of Hints not farm from Tamworth or Lichfield.

It boasts 55 acres or soft fruit fields producing the nighest quality strawberries and raspberries.

There's also gooseberries, redcurrants and blackcurrants, and blackberries. Pumpkins are also available in the autumn.

The farm is open daily from 10am to 6pm in the summer.

And This Morning fans loved it, with one writing: "Got our strawberries and jam from @manorfarmfruits last week. Fantastic! Going back for more today!!"

A second, though, wrote: "A strawberry drive through! FFS"

"Whatever next?" a third wondered.
