Everton morning headlines as Sandro Ramirez set to return

Here are your Everton morning headlines for Wednesday, May 27.

Valladolid rule out permanent Sandro deal

Real Valladolid will be unable to match Everton's asking price in order to make Sandro Ramirez’s loan move permanent, according to club director Miguel Angel Gomez.

The Spanish forward arrived at Goodison Park in 2017 but scored just once for the Premier League side before embarking on a series of loan moves back to his native Spain.

His switch to Valladolid last summer has proven most successful; Ramirez has struck three goals in 13 appearances for the club.

Yet Gomez has ruled out a permanent deal given the fee Everton are expected to demand.

He told Cadena Ser, via SportWitness: "Sandro belongs to Everton and it’s already published that they intend to sell him for around £5-6million.

"Those are figures that Real Valladolid cannot afford, the boy is tremendously committed to the team; he is very happy here in Valladolid and managed to break his bad streak.”

Ramirez’s loan deal at Valladolid expires at the end of June but the ECHO understands the La Liga side still will attempt to extend that until the conclusion of the 2019/20 campaign.

Gbamin will have unexpected opportunity

Jean-Philippe Gbamin’s first season as an Everton player has been far from easy.

The midfielder, who was signed for £25m from Mainz last summer, played just 135 minutes for the Toffees prior to suffering a thigh injury in training in August.

Setbacks have hampered his recovery and after undergoing surgery in February it was expected Gbamin would be ruled out for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.

But then the season was halted due to the coronavirus crisis and that may give the Ivory Coast international an unexpected chance to stake his claim in the Everton starting 11 prior to the transfer window.

Carlo Ancelotti admitted at the start of March he wanted a midfielder with “energy” recruited this summer and had the season progressed as expected, that would have happened without Gbamin having had the chance to feature under the Italian coach

Yet Gbamin should be ready to return for Everton when the top flight resumes and that may enable him to prove to Ancelotti he can be the Idrissa Gueye replacement the club expected.

Everton fans send message to hummel

After last week’s announcement that Everton have signed a three-year club-record deal with sportswear brand hummel, Toffees supporters are discussing what look the club’s 2020/21 kits should take.

The deal with hummel is worth around double Everton's previous arrangement with Umbro and they will produce strips for the Men's, Women's and Academy sides, in addition to fashioning training outfits for the club’s players and coaching staff.

Nostalgia has become a big influence for kit manufacturers in recent years and if hummel are to go down that route when designing the 2020/21 offerings, which previous Everton shirts should the Danish company look to?

That is the debate among Everton supporters and several different kits for years past have been suggested. But do you agree?
