Olympiakos are set to offer centre-back Ousseynou Ba a new contract in the hope of keeping him at the club, despite interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool.

That is according to a new report from Sport24 in Greece, who suggest the Greek giants are very keen on keeping hold of the Senegalese powerhouse.

The 24-year-old has been a revelation since arriving from Gazelec Ajaccio last summer and now Olympiakos are desperate to tie him down to a more lucrative deal to ward off interest from other clubs.

The 6ft 4ins star has thrived in the Europa League this season, including a starring display against Arsenal as the Gunners were dumped out of the Europa League.

As reported by Sportime, those displays saw Arsenal start to consider him as a potential €20 million (£17.8m) target.

The Gunners were actually late to the party regarding Premier League interest. As reported by Le Quotidien, Liverpool were already keen on the player.  It was even suggested that Liverpool star striker Sadio Mane was behind the interest, with the forward over the moon with his compatriot’s performance and informing Liverpool of his talents.

Now it seems that the Greek side are fully aware of the potential interest in their defensive colossus and are not prepared to lose him after just one season.
