While the former Watford striker wanted to make his stay in Manchester permanent, reports suggest that the stars have not aligned for the player after his parent club indicated they want him fresh for the new season.
The Chinese Super League was set to get underway in February already, but due to the coronavirus outbreak across the world, will now start in June.
Talks between the Red Devils and Shenhua are believed to have started this week, and it now appears that Ighalo will not be able to see out the 2019/20 campaign in England as was initially intended.
