The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on Wednesday said that the Class 10 Geography examination, which was cancelled, will be marked based on average scores in other subjects.

The last exam has been cancelled due to the lockdown imposed in order to curb the spread of coronavirus. Not only in Maharashtra, but the lockdown has led to cancellation or postponement of examinations of different boards across the country.

Similarly, the state board also announced that the cancelled career education exams of students with disabilities will be marked based on the average scores of their previous, written and oral examinations, practicals and internal examinations.

The state government had announced the cancellation of the last SSC paper of Geography subject on April 13. The subject carries 40 marks and was originally scheduled for March 23.

In line with the boards, the final exams of classes 9 and 11 have also been cancelled. School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad had said the students will be graded on the finals after taking an average of their previous exams and internal tests conducted throughout the year.

It may be mentioned that over 17 lakh students in Maharashtra registered for SSC exams this year, which began on March 3. There are 3.91 lakh SSC students in the Mumbai Division, out of which 2,759 are the ones with disabilities.
