At least for once, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is on the same page with the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government on a number of issues.
Specifically, the Zamfara chapter of the number one opposition party in the country has praised the resounding efforts of the government to combat banditry and other violent crimes in the state.
In a statement signed by Alhaji Hashimu Modomowa, the secretary of the state's chapter of the party, the PDP hailed President Buhari for establishing "the 1 Brigade of Nigeria Army, 207 Quick Response Group of the Nigeria Airforce and Joint Task Force (JTF) under Operation Hadarin Daji."
Added to this, the PDP in Zamfara expressed gratitude to the president for reviving mining activities in the state, a move the party believes has kept youths gainly employed instead of engaging in criminal acts.
It also dismissed the view of the commissioner for rural development and cooperative, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, who had alleged that the government is more interested in curbing coronavirus than in dealing with violent crimes.
Moreover, the party mentioned that the government has been very supportive in curtailing the spread of the virus in the state.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that following the Supreme Court reserving its judgment on the review of the Zamfara state governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) had issued a warning to the PDP to steer off its appeal.
The ruling party in a statement on Tuesday, March 17, signed by its national publicity secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, raised objections to the opposition party's attempt to interfere in the apex court’s decision to reserve its judgment.

The APC in the statement noted that its suspicion is supported by the PDP’s tactic of always crying wolf when the party fears the rule of law is about to take effect rather than impunity.
The statement partly read: “We state emphatically that PDP has no business in this matter as it is clearly an intra-party affair in which the All Progressives Congress (APC) is asking the Apex Court to review its judgment."
