COVID-19: 5 more test positive in M’laya
Five more persons, including three women tested positive for COVID-19 in Meghalaya, taking the total of active COVID-19 cases to seven in the state, health official said on Wednesday.
The five persons were among 101 returnees from Delhi and Harayana who arrived in the State on Monday evening.
“ All the five infected persons are stable. They are currently in Corona Care Centre and they will be the shifted to COVID-19 hospital in Shillong Civil hospital,” Director of Health Services, Dr Aman Warr said.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who tweeted in the wee hours of the Wednesday, said all of the patients are ‘asymptomatic’
With the detection of this case, the State has recorded 20 COVID-19 cases out of which 12 have recovered, one succumbed to the virus and two are active cases.
Meanwhile, Assam has released the name of Ajit Dey, a native of Karimganj district, who was tested positive for COVID-19. Dey had travelled from Shillong to Karimganj on a hired vehicle.
On Tuesday, a 29-year-old woman from North Garo Hills district, a Chennai returnee had tested positive for COVID-19. The patient is currently in institution quarantine centre at Resubelpara.
Chief Minister Sangma, who chaired a high level meeting on Tuesday to review protocols and processes that were implemented in the initial stages of COVID-19 pandemic said, “We are making certain amendments which will be updated accordingly.”
Over 9000 residents of Meghalaya have returned to the state from other parts of the country where they were stranded due to the ongoing lockdown.
While 727 persons are under institutional quarantine in Meghalaya, of the 6553 samples tested, 5599 were negative while the results of 939 are awaited
