'There are so many friggin' half-truths out there': Lance Armstrong is STILL hiding secrets about doping, says his former team-mate Tyler Hamilton - despite claims that new documentary would tell the 'whole explosive story'

Lance Armstrong's former team-mate Tyler Hamilton has cast doubts over whether the disgraced former cyclist is telling the whole truth in his new documentary and insists he is still keeping secrets about his doping past.

Hamilton himself is a serial doping cheat, his final eight-year ban effectively ending his own career, and he insists that Armstrong is only telling 'half-truths' in his new two-part ESPN documentary LANCE.

Reacting to the first episode, Hamilton told the Off The Ball podcast: 'When you tell the whole truth there are consequences.

'There are plenty of consequences for telling a half-truth, but you might be able to stay in the sport. When you tell the full truth like me, you're out.'

Hamilton rode alongside Armstrong from 1998 to 2002 until the pair became rivals on the Grand Tour. After being banned for blood doping and losing his 2004 Olympic gold medal, he made a comeback before being handed an eight-year ban for a second positive doping test.

He later wrote a book titled 'The Secret Race: Inside the Hidden World of the Tour de France: Doping, Cover-ups, and Winning at All Costs,' and has now called on Armstrong to deliver the same honesty as he has in his post-cycling career.

'I'd love to see more of the truth,' he continued. 'The whats, the whys, the how - all that. Not anything against Lance but for the future of cycling, for the younger generations of the sport. I don't think we've seen enough of the past from him or from a lot of individuals.

'There are so many friggin' half-truths out there - like "I doped from here to here then stopped" - There's a lot of that.

'Not coming forward with some of these secrets that can make a big difference. Because those secrets haven't come out [it's a cycle] - we need more of the details. Not only from Lance but from a lot of these individuals.

'I don't know what is going to happen in the future, hopefully, we don't see anything like this ever again. But if we don't find out what happened in the past, how it happened then it's going to happen again. Just wait, start your stopwatch.'

The first part of the sensational ESPN documentary LANCE lifted the lid on the beatings Armstrong's stepfather Terry gave the disgraced cycling legend.

Terry Armstrong claimed that he drove his stepson 'like an animal' - with the ex-cycling superstar also weighing in on the methods he was subjected to and stating: 'He beat the s*** out of me'.

'Lance would not be the champion he is today without me, because I drove him,' Terry said. 'I drove him like an animal. That's the only thing I feel bad about. Did I make him too much "win at all costs"?'

But his stepson held a much more bleak outlook on the treatment, instead stating that he would be regularly beaten.

'I mean you talk about disciplinarian, if he said "Don't leave your drawer open or you're gonna be in trouble" and sure enough I'd leave the drawer open, he'd pull out his fraternity paddle and just beat the s*** out of me,' the 48-year-old ex-sports star said in the documentary.

'If I did that, my kids would be getting spanked every minute of every day! Like, who cares if the drawer's open?'

After his son's admission, Terry agreed that his military-like training would have been tough on his stepson - but also attempted to defend his methods by labelling himself 'the taskmaster'.

He did, however, reveal his regret at not showing more affection for Lance.

'I was tough on him as far as cleaning his room up and being orderly, and Linda was always there when I did it,' he said.

'It wasn't a belt, it wasn't hitting him. It was just, "bend over and take your licks." That came from five years in military school. Very regimented, so I was kind of by the book.'
